Karlie Kloss left Victoria’s Secret because of feminism
We, of course, could not stay away from this historic event
In fact, Karlie ceased to be an Angel in 2015: she stopped cooperation with a lingerie brand referring to the fact that she needed to devote a lot of time to study. But in an interview with British Vogue, she admitted that studying was only a pretext, the reason for parting with Victoria`s Secret was completely different.
Karlie said that the collaboration with the brand went against her feminist views, and she officially refuses to carry the stressed sexualized image to the masses.
“The reason I decided to stop working with Victoria’s Secret was I didn’t feel it was an image that was truly reflective of who I am and the kind of message I want to send to young women around the world about what it means to be beautiful."
And this is the first time in history when a model terminates a contract with Victoria’s Secret. Becoming an Angel was the ultimate desire of models around the world for several decades. Participation in the annual show was considered prestigious, and to get wings and the title of Angel can open the door to high-paying contracts and shootings for the model.
And so it was until recently, despite the fact that Victoria`s Secret brand was regularly attacked by feminists, body positivists, and God knows who else.
Moreover, Karlie Kloss owes much of her successful career to Victoria`s Secret: the model began working with the brand at the age of 16 and became an Angel after four years being an extra.
Well, we will miss Karlie as an Angel, but we respect her decision. Besides, no one can forbid us to admire her beauty!
